The Collage Museum: A Jazz Cabaret That Calls For a Cure
NEW YORK - On November 6th, 7th & 10th making its debut at The Triad (158 West 72ndSt.) at 7:30 p.m. The Collage Museum will be officially called to the stage! The Collage Museum, a musical memorial to all of those living with cancer combines memorable songs, ageless stories and vivid visuals. With direction from the timeless Linda Ameil Burns, The Collage Museum marries jazz, blues, funk, R&B, and Top 40 to create a tour through time and experiences.
The Collage Museum is a literal and interactive adaptation of a visit to a historical yet soulful museum. The exhibit was initially experienced by Marc, the museum tour guide, who happens to be living with cancer. Now in retrospect of all he has been through, Marc takes his audience on a meaningful and educational trip through his past with cancer and its' treatment. Playwright Jamarcus Mosley plays the lead role of his namesake, Marc. The museum's exhibition of truth allows him to face his past head-on through the honest reflections of his life. With musical arrangements by Ted Firth, Charles Lovell and Joel Mofsenson and choreography by Tina Casual, The Collage Museum promises to not only entertain, but inform.
"I wrote this story in hopes of sending a message of hope, love, and peace to all of those who may be living with this disease as I am," says Mosley. "It's not about dying from cancer, but living with it!"
The Collage Museum is being directed by Linda Ameil Burns. Burns created The Singing Experience in 1977 and over the past twenty five years, she has directed over 400 workshops in New York and many other cities.
The Singing Experience has been lauded by the print media with many articles in newspapers and magazines such as The Daily News, Newsweek, NY Post, American Way and Cabaret Scenes - which named her "the best teacher." There were many television feature stories including, CNN, ABC-TV, PM Magazine, Live With Regis & Kathie Lee, a feature story on CBS-TV's Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood and, most recently, Life Moments on NBC. Linda has served on the Board of Directors of MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs) for 15 years and is President of The New York Sheet Music Society.
The Collage Museum would like to extend a special invitation to all members of the media as well as those who have either personally experienced or watched a loved one go through the ordeal of dealing with a terminal illness.
A considerable portion of the proceeds will go to benefit Broadway Cares Equity Fights Aids & Cancer Research.
